A Message from the Club President

I am learning more and more each day about the things that Rotary does around the world. The world's oldest service organization has helped eradicate Polio by spending over a billion dollars to provide inoculations for children from every country. They have provided clean water in areas that had none with their healthy water initiative. They have provided food and shelter for those in need. Rotary is considered a silent hero by many. They have done so much yet, if you ask the man on the street what they know about what Rotary has done, many do not know. One of my goals as President this year is to let the community know who Rotary is and what we do. We have supported the Literacy Volunteers for the past 4 years. This year we will expand our support for Literacy by giving every third grader in the public school system their own dictionary. We continue to award college scholarships to our high schools. Our club has sponsored youth exchange students to study abroad while hosting students from abroad to come to Norwalk. There is so much more that we can do. I intend to take advantage of the Rotary Foundations Grants for community projects as well as expand a helping hand to other countries. I would like to begin a Twin Club relationship with a Rotary Club in another country. These are just some of the things I would like to do as President. I hope we can continue to count on the community for support as we move into our second hundred years of "Service Above Self."

Sincerely,

Richard Becker

President
